It is a simply stunning, moving and original album. I never had a "come down" from this wonderful feeling and I actively seek it now, because to me that is life. This is a departure from the first album by including a big backing band. Beautiful melodies and lyrics although the individual songs do not stand out as much as on the first album. Many adjectives could be offered to summarise the album - beautiful, spacious, melancholy in parts, elegant, intricate - I could go on.

I stumbled upon it via my love for Talk Talk's utterly sublime album "Spirit of Eden" and reading reviews of that which mentioned Bon Iver as having been influenced by that masterpiece. This album took me completely by surprise. If you haven't already, check out this albums and you won't regret it.
